What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Wharfedale W70D

Achromatic W70D Versatile High and Low Boy Deluxe Four-Way Speaker System.
Exclusive Sand-Filled Enclosure
The new W70D incorporates the finest components for multiple speaker systems. The 12 ½" woofer employs a massive (9 ½ lb) magnet assembly on a heavy cast aluminum chassis. The 2" pole piece and magnet keeper plates of finest grain-oriented, high permeability Sheffield steel, insure maximum gap flux density with minimum heat loss, as well as exceptional power and transient handling ability. Low natural resonance, high but well controlled compliance, and long axial excursion add to the thrilling bass response capabilities of this acoustic suspension system.
A special, heavy duty 8" speaker serves as a "passive" radiator for the upper bass range and as an energized driver for the lower midrange. An acoustically isolated 5" unit handles the upper midrange, wwhile Wharefedale's advance-design mylar pressure-dome tweeter contributes pure, wide-angle treble. Individual, continuously variable controls adjust the mid and treble ranges.
The enclosure employs Wharfedale's exclusive sand-filled construction for maximum inhibition of cabinet sound coloration. The versatile design permits use of the W70D as a "high boy" when placed on end, or as a "low boy" when placed on its side. Superbly styled, the W70D is often used, because of its table top, as an end table alongside sofas or chairs. Because of its low height, it is also ideal for positioning under bay windows. The front grille is removable for decorative changes.
