What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Teac AS-100

Teac presents ; AS-100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier - The new elegant line, matched stereo components.

Designed to match both in appearance and performance characyeristics, the high quality A-1230/A01250 series tape decks. The crisp professional styling, striking black matte finish and brushed stainless steel panels, allow you to assemble a complete matching home audio center.
The impressive performance characteristics of these units coupled with their moderate cost now make available to everyone, the famous Teac tonal quality, superb sound reproduction, and tasteful styling.

Direct Coupled Differential Amplifiers
The AS-100 employs the same design circuitry as the widely known and reliable AS-200S and AE-200 amplifiers. Originally designed for computer and instrumentation data recorders, it provides a flat frequency response far beyond the range of audibility. Extremely low distortion high S/N ratio, and virtually non existent residual noise combine to produce the famous Teac total sound quality.

Electronic Protective Circuit
Instantaneous acting electronic protective circuitry protects output stages from open or short circuit speaker conditions. The use of heat resistant all silicon transitors provides the highest reliability for lengthy trouble free operating life.

2 dB Stepped Tone Controls
Precision 2 dB stepped tone control (NF type) are employed to eliminate any tonal imbalance between channels and to permit audio contours to match your room acoustics.

NPN-PNP-NPN 3 Stage Direct Coupled Phonoamplifier
Selected low noise silicon transistors and unique direct coupled circuitry combine to produce unparalleled sound quality.

New Low Noise Integrated Circuits (ICs)
The control amplifier section incorporates new low noise integrated circuits for maximum gain, widest dynamic range, and minimum harmonic and intermodulation distortion.
 Versatility
Physically integrated but electrically independent preamplifier/power amplifier sections allow the preamplifier or power amplifier sections to be used separately, as in a divided frequency multi channel or quadriphonic  system. Convenient rear panel switch provides maximum versatility for connections to external or auxiliary equipment.

Convenient Front Panel Tape Deck Inputs
Designed fro tape recorder use, the AS-100has front panel tape deck jacks to allow convenient connections to a second tape deck for dubbing purposes. Eliminates the necessity of disturbing rear panel connections when copying tapes.

Total Flexibility-multiple Inputs
The AS-100 is provided with sufficient rear panel connections for almost any audio configuration. Rotary switched inputs provide for turntables 1 and 2, tuner, and auxiliary inputs 1 and 2. Front panel jacks and tape monitor switch make taping from records or other sources remarkably simple and easy. The turntable 1 and 2 selector allows taping of records without delay while changing records as well as allowing "A-B" comparison checks of cartridges.

Protective Muting Circuit
The AS-100 employs a time delay protective muting circuit to protect your speakers from turn on shock. No current flows in the output circuit until the unit has stabilized after turn on. (1-2 seconds after power is applied)

Dual Speaker Connections - Monitoring jack
The AS-100 has rear panel connections and front panel switch to allow simultaneous connection of 2 pairs of speakers. Internal circuitry automatically compensates for changing impedance loads when one system is turned off or disconected.
A front panel monitor jack permits private listening with both speaker system disabled. Any standard stereo headphones of 8 Ω impedance may be used.
