What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Pioneer CS R700

The R series of speakers from Pioneer are new in the ways that all future speakers from other makers will be new. They are out front in bold design, physical characteristics and dynamic sound. They offer a new kind of performance that speaks for itself in transient characteristics, wide sound directionality and big power input. They are replete with the kind of features that have made Pioneer one of the major builders of stereo speakers, including bass reflex enclosures, special sound absorbing material, walnut enclosures, ''free beating'' cone paper woofers with special coating, die-cast aluminum horn tweeters with wide directionality, foamed polyurethane edges, and newly designed crossover network.

In this 3-way 3-speaker system, Pioneer has blended the technology of speaker design with a new kind of free-beating process cone paper to deliver dynamic sound and rich tonal quality. A special coating applied to the surface of the cone paper suppresses undesirable air leaks which often occur in ordinary cone paper. Moreover, the edge of the 12-inch woofer is made from foamed polturethane which is made for endurance against temperature change and humidity, teh better to provide high compliance and excellentlinearity.

There are other features that make the R-700 one of speakerdom's best buys. Pioneer has employed an extralong ''edge-width'' voice coil to suppress distortion whenlarge input signals are received, There is a pure copper cap attached on the pole of the magnetic circuitry to help eliminate all posibilites of distortion occuring from the change of inductance of the voic coil, or what is commonly called magnetic circuitry. The big woofer is marked by very low distortion and clear extended rich bass sound. Use of an extra large magnet, , as well as free-beating cone paper enhances these quality characteridsto

The mid/high range speaker included in the R700 is the horn type which covers the ultra wide frequency range of 700 to 14,000 Hz. It has been specially matched to the newly designed driver unit and diaphragm, and is distinguished from the oder mid/high range speakers by its excellent transient characteridtics, leading to sharp sound and ultra-high sensitivity.

This multi-cellular horn type super tweeter covers the ultra high range ranging from 14,000 Hz and up, Its features includeexcellent directionality and transient characteristics. Its conection to the mid/high range spearer. Its conection to the mid/high range speaker is assured by an excellent crossover design constructed to produce exceptionally smooth response
